Maura Sullivan never intended to set foot in Granger, Ohio, again. But when circumstances force her to return, she must face all the disappointments she tried so hard to leave behind: a husband who ignored her, a congregation she couldn’t please, and a God who took away everything she ever loved.

Nick Shepherd thought he had put the past behind him, until the day his estranged wife walked back into town. Intending only to help Maura through her crisis of faith, Nick finds his feelings for her never died. Now, he must admit the mistakes he made, how he hurt his wife, and find a way to give and receive forgiveness. As God works in both of their lives, Nick and Maura start to believe they can repair their broken relationship and reunite as man and wife. But Maura has one more secret to tell Nick before they can move forward. It’s what ultimately drove her to leave him six years earlier, and the one thing that can destroy the fragile trust they’ve built.

Fired from her job as a TV producer, Sammy Greene gets a second chance when she lands an after-midnight show at a small radio station in LA.

It’s December 1999, days before the dawn of the new millennium. With Y2K looming and the Santa Ana winds threatening to turn the city into a fiery inferno, LA is on edge and Sammy’s listeners are burning up the phone lines predicting the end of time.

When a listener calls in to report the discovery of a burned body, Sammy starts to investigate and to her horror, learns that the victim is the wayward daughter of an old friend.

As she blazes a trail to find answers, Sammy realizes that this death was no accident. All signs point to murder – murder conveniently obscured by the raging wildfires.

But Sammy’s investigation takes a chilling turn when she uncovers a sinister plot that could claim thousands of innocent lives…

Cat Colvin average teenager? Or something else entirely?

Sure, she’s taller than most girls, has a mane of fiery red hair that’s impossible to tame, is left-handed, and her eyes are two different colors, but that’s where the differences end… unless you include the minor detail of her slow transformation into a Childe.

High school can definitely be challenging, and for Cat it’s no different. This is especially true when she’s faced with the daunting task of trying to hide her budding Childe traits as they begin to reveal themselves at the most inopportune times. To make matters worse, her family is oddly dead set against Ryan, the boy she grows to like. But everyone has their secrets: is Ryan really what he seems to be, and what is Cat’s family not telling her?

Just went into Amazon to check on the price of Devil Wind and it's showing FREE but when I go through the Kindle it's showing a price of $4.29. POI, is this book free or not?

David Rosen August 24, 2012 at 7:33 pm

Click through the link in the post to make sure you find the right version. Many books have multiple listings and not all of them are free.

Norma Cascio August 24, 2012 at 9:10 pm

I made sure it was the right one. Actually, when I went in through Amazon, it also showed both prices. Didn't know which way to get the book, so I didn't. The free version said: Kindle, April 2011 $0.00. The other Kindle listing said $4.29. Just checked on Amazon again; they took the free price away. So that takes care of the problem. Thanks for answering back, David. And thanks for all the free books through POI.
