John Bartley’s days are filled with working in the mill or the garden, and he can’t wait to see Zella at the next barn dance. But when he stumbles through a hidden portal in the forest, everything he’s ever known falls behind him… A hundred and thirty-four years behind, to be exact.

Tess can’t quite believe John’s tale of time travel. Does he really not know what a cell phone is? A car? Indoor plumbing? To convince the girl he’s swiftly falling for that he’s not crazy, John must delve into Tess’s history – his future – and solve the mystery of his hometown’s demise.

But when they learn its fate, each faces a wrenching choice. Save their love or save the past?

by Cooking Penguin

This cookbook is a complete look at the making of pizza, from dough to finished pie. Focusing on technique and fundamentals, it will teach you how to prepare all of the famous types of pizzas such as hand tossed, deep dish, stuffed crust, calzone, grilled pizza, and dessert pizza to name a few. It also includes the outlines of toppings for some of the more archetypal pies such as the famous “White Pizza” and “Pizza Margherita”.

After mastering the techniques and sauces here you will be able to make pizzas that far excel those of the famous chain restaurants in both flavor and appearance (of course homemade is always healthier, too). But remember, it is your pie, so don’t let anyone else tell you what you should put on top of it and you won’t have to eat humble pie!

Tyr and Loki are not your teenage sister’s vampires.

They live for pleasure. They feel no remorse. They view human beings as livestock and sex objects. And after a thousand years seducing and murdering the prettiest girls in the room, they have become two of the most diabolical serial killers of all time.

But following a violent feud that separates the brothers for over a decade, Tyr hides himself away in a house on the outskirts of Las Vegas where he falls in love with a terminally ill young woman named Eva, an act deemed punishable by death by the fabled vampire council known as The Chosen.

When a mysterious messenger arrives at his home, Tyr fears both Loki and The Chosen have tracked him down, forcing him to protect both himself and the dying young woman who is teaching him to feel.

[Today Only] A Midwife Crisis – Only 99c!

A Midwife CrisisA Midwife Crisis
by Lisa Cooke

Due to her family’s meddling, an Appalachian midwife finds herself with three eager fiancés, but it’s the new doctor in town who makes her pulse race.

Katie Napier’s zany family has decided she needs a husband. And when Katie’s family puts their mind to something, it’s as good as done. In fact, they’re so good, they’ve arranged three fiancés for her in less than a week. What’s a midwife to do?

Dr. John Keffer is used to helping people. It’s why he came back to the Appalachian Mountains – to build a new practice and leave behind the painful memories of the big city. But usually his help is of a medical nature, not advising the most captivating woman he’s ever met which man to wed. A difficult task, especially once he decides he wants to keep her for himself.

[Hot Deal] I’m Listening With a Broken Ear – Save 81%

I'm Listening With a Broken EarI’m Listening With a Broken Ear
by Vicky Kaseorg

I’m Listening With a Broken Ear is a true story about a dying dog, Honeybun, the author found on a roadside and grudgingly rescued. A concomitant story of faith, persistence, and love unfolds as both she and her young daughter struggled to help Honeybun overcome severe issues of compromised health, aggression and fear. Untrained to deal with the overwhelming behavior, Vicky then tried to give her up… unsuccessfully.

Refusing to relinquish her to Animal Control who would undoubtedly euthanize Honeybun, Vicky tripped upon a small rescue organization who offered to help rehabilitate Honeybun for free. During the many months of heartache and struggle, and multiple near deadly attacks on Vicky’s other dog, she discovered a modern day parable of the truth that nothing is truly irredeemable.

Each victory with the little rescue dog taught personal lessons in redemption and grace, patience and perseverance, and the power of transforming love to spread through a community in most unexpected and unlikely ways.

Patti Lincecum Miinch February 21, 2013 at 4:03 pm

I'm getting a bit discouraged with pixelofink — far too much paranormal type fiction and historical romance for me. I'm an avid reader, and I know there's a far wider spectrum of good books out there.

Laura Canfield Russell February 21, 2013 at 8:19 pm

Do you go to Amazon and do a search for free Kindle books?

Patti Lincecum Miinch February 22, 2013 at 12:54 am

Yes, but I utilize several sources, and I wish this one had more variety. :)
