Rookie sportswriter Catriona McDaniel is on deck in Sin City for the job of a lifetime with baseball’s hottest team. The Las Vegas Chips have the best record in baseball, snagging two trophies in their first three years. Two men are vying for the position of “boyfriend of summer.” Her new boss, Erich König, is a German wunderkind and the Desert’s most eligible bachelor. Then there’s her neighbor—a biology professor whose fetal pigs know more about baseball than he does.

Not all the men admire Cat. As the team’s junior reporter, Dusty Carlyle was on-deck for her position. Now he’s desperate to get her out of the lineup. Save for the scheming coworker, Cat has everything she ever wanted… until a star outfielder’s heart stops. Suspecting that his death was no accident, she starts nosing around, becoming the newest player in an extreme game of hardball. Will Cat become the next member of the team to be taken out of the lineup?

After parapsychologist Anna Galloway is diagnosed with terminal cancer, she has a recurring dream in which she sees her own ghost. The setting of her dream is the historic Korban Manor, and she’s compelled to face the secrets of her soul.

Sculptor Mason Jackson has come to the manor to make a final, all-or-nothing attempt at success before giving up his dreams. When he becomes obsessed with carving Ephram Korban’s form out of wood, even Anna can’t divert his bizarre passion.

The manor itself has secrets, with fires that blaze constantly in the hearths, portraits of Korban in every room, and deceptive mirrors on the walls. With an October blue moon looming, both the living and the dead learn the true power of their dreams.

The doctors say she’ll be gone by fall, but they have one last summer. One hot summer to consummate a lifetime of love, to cry together, laugh together… remember together. When a troubled teenage girl and an injured horse turn to them for help, Mary and Sam Holt find enough room in their own large and breaking hearts to show the girl life’s glories and restore a champion’s will. We’ll Have The Summer is a magnificent story about life, love, and horses.

Skywalker: Close Encounters on the Appalachian TrailSkywalker: Close Encounters on the Appalachian Trail
by Bill Walker
*OFFER EXPIRED*
FREE on Kindle

Why would a middle-aged businessman who had never even spent the night outdoors, attempt to hike the entire Appalachian Trail? Bill Walker, a former commodities trader in Chicago and London, and an avid walker, had developed a virtual obsession to hike this historic 2,175 mile footpath in one hiking season. In the spring of 2005 he set off from his home state of Georgia, hoping to make it to Mount Katahdin in northern Maine before the arrival of winter. Immediately, he realized he had plunged into a whole new world. For starters, the Appalachian Trail has some ferociously difficult terrain, winding through dramatically diverse geography and covering the East’s highest peaks.

Mortals are compelled–or perhaps cursed–to relive their lifetime adventure. This is Bill Walker’s unforgettable version, leavened with ruthlessly self-deprecating humor. Some have joked that the book is as much about what NOT to do, as what to do. Skywalker couldn’t agree more!

Should a woman who’s unable to forget her first love give “happily ever after” one more try?

Shelby Winters’ one great love went sour. If she can’t feel that way about a guy again, why bother? When Shelby’s best friend sets her up on a blind date with Logan, the guy who broke her heart, he pursues her relentlessly, forcing her to make a choice: give her heart what it’s always desired and risk total devastation or shut Logan out and lose her only shot at happiness. To Shelby, it’s a lose-lose situation. Or is it?

Dennis Mark Burgess June 2, 2012 at 2:27 pm

Just downloaded 2. I hope they don't have profanity. Warnings are not listed.

Nelda Seal Rogers June 2, 2012 at 3:09 pm

I couldn't agree with you more. I wish there was a rating system like there is fro TV.

Margaret Brothers June 2, 2012 at 4:17 pm

I hate the profanity in books also. I think the story can be told just as well, or better, without all of the four letter words. (One in particular I diislike). If a person is intelligent enough to follow a good story line, they do NOT need all of the expletives.

Tamara Valdes-Russell June 2, 2012 at 5:33 pm

You know what is helpful? Read the ratings/reviews on Amazon. Often folks will give more insight there than what is in the description. Good luck! :)
