Elementary school principal Katherine Tipton is used to dealing with mischievous children. But the problems she’s having with one unruly pupil are nothing compared to the trouble she finds herself facing with the child’s attractive father. Single dad Steven Walker made a fortune designing wacky computer games for kids, but that won’t stop Katherine from trying to make him see reason.

While paying a visit to the funhouse Steven calls home, Katherine is all business. But try as she might to disapprove of his carefree attitude, the sexy creative genius charms her into having some fun. Steve’s convinced there’s a passionate and high-spirited woman beneath Katherine’s strait-laced exterior-and he’s determined to win her. But Katherine’s going to have to teach him the rules of this game. The game called love.

“She passed a hard candy over her shoulder as though whatever was in the tiny wrapper was supposed to make it all better. I clutched the peppermint in my hand and buried my face in the hard leather seat while she explained what was going to happen to me. She promised that I’d be safe from then on.”

And so begins the journey of Naomi, whose amazing story picks up where the past and future intersect. As Naomi struggles to hide the ugly physical and emotional reminders of yesterday that insist on haunting her dreams, she crosses paths with a young boy, Xavier and his quick-tempered mother, Mona, who both share an interesting story much like her own.

Running from Solace is an emotional tale which will send you catapulting on a breathless journey beyond breaking points and will finally lead you to believe in the power of accepting what is to be.

by Paul Levine

Florida’s most mismatched law partners are back in this Edgar-nominated tale. A Coral Gables blueblood, Victoria Lord plays by the rules. A Coconut Grove beach bum, Steve Solomon makes up his own, starting with: “When the law doesn’t work, work the law.”

The action starts when a boat runs aground in the Florida Keys. Aboard are a thousand hundred-dollar bills and two men, one shot by a speargun. The other man is Victoria’s “Uncle Grif,” who desperately needs a lawyer…or two. But Grif, charged with murder, is a lawyer’s worst nightmare, a client who keeps secrets. Just what is he planning in the Florida Keys and why would he kill an investigator for the Environmental Protection Agency?

The tale roams from the streets of Miami to a waterfront nudist colony to a Key West courtroom with Solomon and Lord – squabblers extraordinaire – fighting all the way. Will they succeed in defending Grif? Will they learn the truth? And will they end the case as partners and lovers or enemies and litigants?

Bobbi Queen May 25, 2012 at 3:12 am

You need to tell me about Kindle. Is it better than Nook?

Pam Kautter May 25, 2012 at 1:10 pm

I have no idea. I love my kindle fire. I can get on fb, surf the internet, and read magazines, music, and bunches of toys/apps. I mostly use it for reading. I have a bum thumb I had surgery on five yrs ago and it doesn't like to hold books in an open position for long. So this is an added bonus. I can't compare as I don't know the nook. Sorry
