FREE on Kindle

Jennifer must do the impossible – bring her mother home. When a family is torn apart by death, two sisters take violently divergent paths and the story of their family appears to end terribly and abruptly. Two decades later Jennifer never dreams that the photo she finds stuck between the pages of a neglected book will tear open a gaping wound to her mother’s secret past. Abandoning her comfortable life with her parents and best friend in the wheat fields of Nebraska, Jennifer’s quest for a hidden aunt leads her to the untamed coast of Maine where she struggles to understand why her mother lied to her for sixteen years.

Across the grey, rocky cove she meets Nathan Moore, the young, reluctant genius surrounded by women who need him to be brother, father, friend, provider, protector and now, first love. The stories, varied, hilarious, and heartbreaking, unfold to paint a striking mural of the shattered past. As Jennifer seeks to piece together her mother’s story, she inadvertently writes one for herself.

The Greatest Show on Dirt
The Greatest Show on Dirt

by James Bailey
FREE on Kindle

Lane Hamilton takes stock of his life and doesn’t like what he finds. His friends are all chasing their dreams, while he’s working for a goose-stepping bully on the middle-management track to nowhere. When Lane is fired for sleeping through an important meeting, a high school buddy lands him a job with the Durham Bulls. Despite the grueling hours, it doesn’t take him long to realize even a bad day at the yard beats a good one in Corporate America.

But is his new gig worth risking his magazine-cover girlfriend? And between jealous co-workers and psychotic relief pitchers, will he survive the season? The Greatest Show on Dirt is set in historic Durham Athletic Park, a place so rich in character that it plays as big a role as the crazy cast that makes up Lane’s Bulls family. Here is a realistic portrayal of what life was like working in the minor leagues in the early 1990s, before the explosive growth that saw many old ballparks replaced by miniature versions of big league stadiums. No one got rich, but they sure had a good time.

Fistful of Reefer
Fistful of Reefer

by David Mark Brown
FREE on Kindle

Fistful of Reefer delivers a surge equivalent to a cocktail of 1 part serotonin, 2 parts adrenaline, with a dash of grenadine served over ice. This double-fisted, dieselpunk weird-Western resides between No Country for Old Men and The Three Amigos.

In 1918, when Chancho Villarreal and his friends inadvertently create the legend of El Chupacabra, they draw the attention of Texas Ranger J.T. McCutchen to their goat ranch and marijuana farm north of Del Rio, Texas. What follows is an action-packed ride across the wilds of a Texas haunted by rumors of Chupacabras behind every bush.

Lori Arena yes, but these are free anyways. =D I do enjoy the library kindle books but the wait for all the good books are quite long- as they are shared with soooo many other libraries in the network.

Steph Hodge I haven't even tried my library since POI has kept me busy downloading all their free books. With the library don't they disappear if you don't read them in a certain amount of time? Between all my free books I keep downloading and the wishlist of the ones that I want to buy eventually I wonder if I even need to worry about the library LOL :)
